—About—
Adam Wright writes “songs about people”, as he states in his utterly gut wrenching and masterfully written song “The Banker” from his second solo album ‘Dust’. A true singer/songwriter, Wright colors in the shapes of characters so numerous and diverse you’d need a series of novels to tell their full stories.
With two Grammy nominations under his belt ("So You Don't Have To Love Me" - Best Country Song/Alan Jackson, "All The Trouble" - Best American Roots Song/Lee Ann Womack), Wright continues to be a songwriter's songwriter. His songs have been recorded by Nashville giants like Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, and Lee Ann Womack as well as lyric luminaries like Robert Earl Keen, Brandy Clark and Bruce Robison.
He is capable of Mark Twain humor ("Hard Work"/Lonesome River Band) and Leonard Cohen gravity ("The Lifeguard"/Adam Wright - 'Terms of Agreement', "Dark Life"/Adam Wright - 'Dust'). His upcoming release, 'Nature of Necessity' is an 18 song behemoth and masterclass of song craft and storytelling. 'Nature of Necessity' will be released in four installments throughout 2025, the first of which being released early February.

“You can break the world of songwriters into an old growth jungle of subspecies. That jungle includes
copiers, mumblers, formatters, word lovers, talkers, spirited creators, master craftsman, uncontrollably gifted, and wildly brilliant geniuses.
Adam Wright occupies the wildly brilliant genius place in that jungle.”
Robert Earl Keen
“Anybody who knows Adam knows that he's a genius songwriter.”
Brandy Clark
“I was excited to hear from my friend Adam Wright yesterday. He told me he is putting out a new record in October. I got to hear a preview and it’s so cool. I was going to wait until October to write about Adam, but then I started listening to an earlier record he did called “Dust” and it’s just so full of great stuff I need to post it as well. I met Adam when he was touring (playing guitar and back up singing) with Lee Ann Womack a few years ago. Before the bus had left Nashville Lee Ann told us we needed to hear Adam doing his own thing - we did and were floored. To me his sound is a direct descendant of that classic sounding yet fearless songwriting that came out of Nashville from the likes of Tom T. Hall, Kris Kristofferson and many others of that earlier era. He can be wickedly funny and also write the stories of regular people, or of objects you might pass by every day without a second thought, in a way that seems true and fresh. Boy do we need that. I promise to give a loud heads up when Adam’s new one called “I Win” comes out in October, but until then you can check out the abundance of great stuff already out there starting with this song called “From My Bough” (featuring Lee Ann) from his “Dust” record.”

“...every one of his songs reminds me how much I treasure the craft of songwriting, and how I’ll never get close to him - but God it’s fun to try.”
Lori McKenna
“He is one of the best of the best, songwriters and storytellers there is…not only in Nashville but that there is.”
Buddy Miller
“Adam Wright is one of my favorite songwriters, so I was thrilled when I heard there was a new album coming. Nature of Necessity is full of so many beautiful, thought provoking songs captured in a sonically unique way that keeps me returning to this album again and again.”
